Rodeo Queen

2011 Queen Justine Day of Porterville

For more than a half century, Woodlake cowboys have paid tribute to young horsewomen in our community by crowning an annual Rodeo Queen.

Each year the Woodlake Lions crowns a Rodeo Queen to reign over the Annual Woodlake Lions Rodeo. The Rodeo Queen is honored with a sparkling tiara, a beautiful belt buckle and a finely tooled leather saddle donated by Valley Business Bank.

Queen contestants are judged on three criteria: horsemanship, poise and personality and ticket drawing sales. To be eligible, applicants must be between 16-24 years and unmarried. Young women from throughout the area are encouraged to apply.

The Queen Contest is generously sponsored by Valley Business Bank, Trudy Johnson Photography, and 4 Aces Boutique.

Official queen and court portraits are taken by Trudy Johnson Photography.

A Special thank you to our Rodeo Queen Contest committee: John Wood, Trilby Barton, Pam Whiteside, and Andrea Searcy.

The deadline for submitting an application each year is January 31. For further information, please contact Pam Whiteside.
