Rodeo Parade Entry Forms Now Available

You are cordially invited to participate in our annual Woodlake Lions Rodeo Parade on Saturday, May 12, 2012. All parade participants will receive free entrance to Saturday’s Rodeo. Also we ask that all entries who have livestock or horses please bring some extra people to help clean up after the horses and livestock, that would be greatly appreciated. Hope to see you there!

Pre-judging starts at 9 a.m.

Parade starts at 10 a.m.

Rodeo Queen Contest Application Deadline

Update: The deadline for submitting an application to be the 59th Woodlake Lions Rodeo Queen has been extended to Wednesday, February 8, 2012. For more information, please contact Pam Whiteside.

Applications are now being sought for the young woman who will reign over the Woodlake Lions 59th Annual Rodeo on Mother’s Day Weekend, May 12-13, 2012.

The winning contestant appears at the Woodlake Lions Rodeo and represents the rodeo at events and parades throughout the year. A court of horsewomen accompany the Rodeo Queen in the Woodlake Western Days Parade and Rodeo. The Queen is honored with a sparkling tiara, a beautiful belt buckle and a finely tooled saddle donated by Valley Business Bank.

Queen contestants are judged on three criteria: horsemanship, poise and personality and ticket drawing sales. To be eligible, applicants must be between 16-24 years and unmarried. Young women from throughout the area are encouraged to apply.

The Queen contest is structured to be educational and fun for participants. Starting in early February, the contestants attend several workshops and meetings to strengthen their horsemanship abilities, gain greater poise and learn all aspects of the contest process.

If a candidate is not crowned as Rodeo Queen, she has the option to compete in the next year’s competition. Several past Rodeo Queens have competed in two years of competition before being crowned.
